Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has agreed terms with Juventus which will see him leave Anfield for free in the summer, according to Tuttosport.

The German midfielder is approaching the end of his contract after failing to agree new terms with Liverpool, and is reportedly set on a move to Turin to play for Juventus.

The report claims that Juventus have been in contact with the 23-year-old since the summer, and have unofficially agreed terms with the player then.

The Italian football news website also claims that Juve made a transfer offer to Liverpool for Can, but it was rejected, and the Reds will now have to watch the German walk away from Merseyside for free.

Good move for Liverpool?

Jurgen Klopp and his team will be loathed to lose a player like Can, especially if they watch him leave for free after failing to agree a new contract.

The German has developed from a prospect into a regular for the Reds, and still only 23, Can has the potential to become a world-class player, with his passing ability in the centre of the park an asset for any side.

On the other hand, this is not like Liverpool losing Sadio Mane or Mo Salah. The club should be able to recover from losing him, it will just be the manner of his exit that stings the most.

If he does make the move to Juventus, at least Liverpool can rest easy in the fact he will not be strengthening one of their domestic rivals.

Likely to happen?

It seems inevitable that Can is to leave Anfield. It is just his destination that is uncertain.

A move to the Italian champions would seem to be an inviting one, and would be a step up for Can as he looks to pick up some silverware.

If the report is to be believed, and he has agreed terms, then this deal would seem all but done.

However, don’t be surprised if others get involved in the race for Can, as a midfielder like him doesn’t come around often, especially for nothing.
