Everton suffered a crushing 4-1 away defeat against Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Toffees were well beaten at St Mary’s as they remain 16th in the league table and just two points above the relegation zone.

Dusan Tadic put the hosts in front after just 18 minutes as his side made their dominance count, but the visitors were handed a lifeline when Gylfi Sigurdsson scored a stunning goal on the stroke of half-time.

Southampton pressed home their dominance in the second period as striker Charlie Austin scored two headers, while Steven Davis also added a late fourth.

Everton’s miserable season continued and they were unable to bounce back from a 5-1 hammering on Thursday night in the Europa League against Atalanta.

Caretaker boss David Unsworth appears out of the race to become the new permanent manager and fans are desperate for the appointment to take place soon.

This Is Futbol has rated the Everton players out of 10 for their performances at St Mary’s.
