Aston Villa should attempt a sensational January move to sign Newcastle United attacker Rolando Aarons on loan.

The 21-year-old winger is currently stuck down the pecking order at St James’ Park and is yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season.

He has been plagued by injury throughout his career so far, but has been available for selection this season and is yet to really feature in Rafael Benitez’s plans.

Villa should make a loan move for the wide man to try give him regular first-team experience and he has the quality to fire the Midlands club to promotion.

Steve Bruce’s side have been in brilliant form recently and with a solid defence there is no reason why they can’t push all the way for automatic promotion this season.

They may just need a few additions in January to get them over the line and explosive attacker Aaron would be the perfect player to give them some added ammunition.

Villa do have Albert Adomah and Robert Snodgrass as their preferred wide players, but they are going to need more than just two quality wingers if they are to sustain a promotion bid over a long Championship season.

Aarons is a highly-rated talent at Newcastle and could hit the ground running if he moved to Villa on a short-term basis in January.

The left winger has a natural ability to dribble past defenders and his style would help him become a firm favourite at Villa Park.

He represented England at Under-20 level before his injury setbacks started in 2015 and the signs were there that he can become a great player.

Aarons is good enough to cut it in the Premier League right now and just needs a run of games to show he can be the positive attack-minded player out wide.

However, a loan move may be needed for him to restore his confidence and Villa would benefit immensely from having him for six months.

They are sometimes lacking the creativity in the final third, something Aarons could help solve with his creativity and eye for goal.
