Leeds United are one of three Championship clubs interested in midfielder James Jeggo from Austrian top-flight club Sturm Graz, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the Whites, Middlesbrough and Hull are all scouting the 25-year-old.

It is understood that the central midfielder recently turned down a new deal with Sturm Graz and is in the final year of his contract.

The report details that Australian Jeggo can sign a pre-contract agreement in January ahead of a summer move and that his English parents mean he qualifies to play in the UK.

Good move for Leeds?

Jeggo is a combative midfielder that appears to have the physical attributes to succeed in the English game and could be a good pick up by Leeds.

The fact that he will be free to move next summer when his contract expires makes it a fairly risk-free deal and it could be worth a punt.

He has made 51 appearances in the Austrian league with Sturm Graz and usually operates in front of the back in a defensive midfield role.

Jeggo also started his career in his homeland in the Australian leagues and has already taken the move to European football to better himself.

Leeds do already have several talented central midfielder in their squad in the shape of Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane and Ronaldo Vieira.

It is unclear where Jeggo could rival them for a starting position, but extensive scouts from the Yorkshire giants will find out more.

Likely to happen?

Jeggo certainly does look to be on the way out of Sturm Graz in the summer, but it is unclear whether Elland Road will be his destination.

There are three Championship clubs circling for his signature, but they all know a deal would come with an element of risk.

Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen has shown he is not afraid to bring in players from foreign leagues and some of them are already beginning to repay his faith.
