Nottingham Forest are ready to blow Rangers and Celtic out of the water to sign St. Mirren attacking midfielder Lewis Morgan, according to The Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper (print edition, page 61, October 15, 2017) claim that Forest manager Mark Warburton could sanction a £500,000 offer for the Scottish Championship ace in the January transfer window to secure his signature.

The Sun report that Celtic are interested in signing the 21-year-old but his agents are keen on getting him to an English club.

The Daily Mail claims that Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers are also interested in signing free scoring Morgan who is out of contract at the end of this season.

Morgan has scored eight goals in 14 matches this season for the Buddies, helping them to top spot in the Championship.

Good move for Rangers?

Morgan would be a smart addition to Pedro Caixinha’s squad. It’s clear the manager is in the market for another winger after failing in his bid to land Hearts’ Jamie Walker in the summer. Morgan has a decent goalscoring record, is a direct player and would prove a decent foil for the likes of Carlos Pena and Alfredo Morelos.

Likely to happen?

Possibly, although there is intense competition to sign a player who can be snapped up for a bargain fee in January, including from former Gers boss Warburton. Morgan will need to keep delivering the goods in the Scottish second tier to remain as Rangers’ A1 mid-winter target. If Forest make an early bid in January, it will be interesting to see if it prompts a counter-offer from Ibrox.
