Hearts ace Jamie Walker is most likely to be the next Rangers signing, according to Football Whispers.

Rangers massively revamped their squad this summer as they brought in 11 new arrivals led by prolific striker Alfredo Morelos and midfield pair Graham Dorrans and Ryan Jack.

Manager Pedro Caixinha is likely to target more new signings when the winter window opens in January as Rangers aim to narrow the gap on league leaders Celtic.

Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 2.5 out of 5 that Hearts attacking midfielder Walker, 24, will join Rangers, with five the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.

The attacker is ahead in the ratings of St Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan, who is rated at 1.0 to transfer to Ibrox.

Good move for Rangers?

Walker was on Rangers’ radar throughout the entire summer and they would be delighted to snap him up on a free transfer once the January transfer window opens. By that point, the winger will be master of his own destiny. He has struggled to replicate last season’s excellent form this time around as speculation swirls about his future, with nine matches for Hearts yielding neither an assist or a goal. It is a far cry from 2016-17, when Walker scored 15 goals from 43 appearances, an outstanding return for a wide midfielder.

Likely to happen?

Yes. Rangers pushed hard to sign Walker in the summer window, although they were not willing to pay over the odds for a player out of contract next June. The Glasgow giants can snap him up for a bargain fee in January, but the player must concentrate on delivering the performances that will keep him as Rangers’ A1 mid-winter target.
