Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday – but fans took to Twitter to applaud Jason Holt after the game.

The midfielder scored his first goal for the Light Blues since September 2016 to give his side a first-half lead after he was given the nod to replace the injured Carlos Pena in the starting XI.

But Chris Burke’s injury-time equaliser earned Kilmarnock a dramatic point against Rangers, to further increase the pressure on manager Pedro Caixinha.

Holt has struggled for regular game time so far this season after being a mainstay under ex-boss Mark Warburton but could find himself getting more starts after the Gers’ recent results.

With a trip to face his old side on Saturday at their temporary Murrayfield base – and Ryan Jack suspended after his red card against Killie – Holt will be hopeful of starting against the Jambos.

Fans were happy to see Holt get his name on the scoresheet, with one supporter saying that he is “easily” the best midfielder on the books at Ibrox.
