Simone Zaza’s agent and father Antonio Zaza has picked out several reasons why the current Valencia attacker failed during his time at West Ham.

The 26-year-old striker is currently in brilliant form for Spanish club Valencia and scored six goals in seven appearances this season.

However, that is a stark contrast from his time with the Hammers where he failed to score in 11 appearances.

The Italian was loaned to West Ham from Juventus and struggled to adpat to the Premier League, but has since improved since a permanent move to Valencia.

Antonio Zaza has claimed that the centre-forward was not happy with the style of manager Slaven Bilic and also bizarrely blamed the British weather as having a negative impact.

“It was a huge mistake. Simone was still concerned by the penalty he missed with Italy at the time and he fail to settle in well in London. He was not happy with the weather and with the formation of his ex boss. Moving to Spain was the best ever decision for him” he told Calcio Mercato.

Simone Zaza failed to really settle during his six months in London and didn’t look like the type of player that could lead the line by himself.

The left-footed striker was out of form at the time and was one of several West Ham attackers to struggle last season.

OPINION

Zaza was not the first striker that failed to cut the grade in the Premier League and he certainly won’t be the last. Some players are just unable to fit into the style of the English division and fans made it very clear early on that the Italian should not be in their side. He looked like a player low on confidence and perhaps the Hammers should have persisted with him for a while longer. He is now proving at Valencia that he can be prolific in front of goal and La Liga seems a much better form him.
