Ray Wilkins claims that Tottenham will struggle at Wembley all season following a narrow victory over Bournemouth at the weekend.

Spurs are using the national stadium as their home ground this campaign while the developments on White Hart Lane take place.

The North London club picked up their first Premier League win at Wembley on Saturday as they edged past Bournemouth 1-0.

Mauricio Pocehttino’s side picked up three points thanks to a composed Christian Eriksen inside the penalty area and it meant they consolidated third in the league table.

Spurs have won all four of their away matches in the league this season, but have picked up just four points from a possible 12 at home.

They will have been relieved following the Bournemouth game and will hope that now sparks a run of home form, but their next visitors are Liverpool on Sunday.

Sky Sports pundit Wilkins doesn’t feel Spurs will get used to Wembley this campaign and that is set to seriously damage their title ambitions.

“They just did enough [against Bournemouth], but Wembley is not being too friendly to Tottenham at the moment and I think it is going to be the same the whole season through,” Wilkins wrote in his column for Sky Sports.

OPINION

Spurs have made a slow start at the national stadium and also struggled when using the 90,000-seater last season in Europe. Pochettino’s side were blowing teams away at home when they were occupying White Hart Lane and that was always going to be hard to replicate this campaign. They look a force on the road so far, but ultimately their home form looks like it could cost them in a pursuit for the title. Most teams in the division will raise their game for a trip to Wembley and that is clearly working against Spurs, who are beginning to adjust to their surroundings.
