Tottenham duo Danny Rose and Erik Lamela will be sidelined for at least three more games, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claims that the senior pair will miss at least the next three Spurs fixtures as they recover from their injuries.

Spurs fans were delighted as the pair returned to first-team training after their long-term absences, but they will have to remain patient.

Rose, 27, has been out of action since January due to a knee injury and has watched teammate Ben Davies take over his role at left-back.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old winger Lamela has not featured since October 2016 because of a hip injury and will be a welcomed return.

Spurs face Bournemouth and Liverpool in the Premier League during their next three games, with a Champions League tie with Real Madrid sandwiched in-between.

The Standard report that there is an “outside chance” that Rose and Lamela could make their comebacks on 25 October against West Ham in the EFL Cup.

It is understood that they are both expected to be fully up to speed by the time they face North London rivals Arsenal on 18November.

OPINION

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will be cautious not to rush either Rose or Lamela back too quickly following serious injuries and taking a safe approach is a wise idea. The North London club have already shown this season they have a strong squad and are managing quite well in all competitions. However, it will be a major lift when the duo are back in action and working towards a London derby is a perfect aim. Rose will need to rediscover his top form if he is to leapfrog Davies for a defensive spot in the side, while Lamela will offer something different to the Spurs frontline.
