Everton’s woes continued in the Europa League on Thursday when they lost 2-1 to Lyon at Goodison Park, almost ensuring their elimination from the competition.

Ashley Williams had given them hope with an equaliser in the 69th minute, after Lyon had taken the lead with an early penalty.

But a Bertrand Traore goal in the 75th minute gave the visitors all three points and heaped even more pressure on manager Ronald Koeman.

Even worse was the fighting that broke out midway through the second half, which was sparked when Williams collided with the Lyon goalkeeper.

All in all, it was another night to forget for Koeman, but also for Everton attacker Davy Klaassen, who has come in for sustained criticism since his summer move from Ajax for £24million.

Fans don’t believe he’s lived up to his hype and slammed another poor performance in an Everton shirt last night.
