Liam Cooper has said that he thinks it’s good for the Leeds squad that Pontus Jansson was honest about his own form in a recent Instagram post.

Jansson made the headlines when he made a post on the social media platform saying that his own form for Leeds had been ‘s***’.

Cooper was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

“Pontus is an experienced player, he’s a great lad and good around the dressing room,” Cooper said in the press conference, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“He’s an honest kid and if he thinks he’s not been up to it then he will let people know. I think it’s good for the squad.”

Leeds are desperate for a result after three consecutive defeats in the Championship have knocked them back to sixth in the table.

They’ve lost their last two games without scoring a goal and there’s pressure at both ends for Leeds, for Pierre-Michel Lasogga up front and for the defenders, including Cooper and Jansson at the back.

OPINION

Leeds fans love Pontus Jansson and it’s likely that they love him that bit more after his honest Instagram post. He was probably a bit harsh on himself – the whole team has been in a slump and Jansson hasn’t been the worst performer – but it’s good when players don’t look for excuses. Leeds fans will be hoping for a reaction from their talismanic defender at Ashton Gate on Saturday.
