Thomas Christiansen has hinted that Ronaldo Vieira could play in the game against Bristol City on Saturday.

He also confirmed that he had his whole squad to pick from, apart from the long-term injury to Caleb Ekuban.

Christiansen was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Championship game at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

“Only Caleb is out,” said Christiansen, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post. “The rest are available.

“Ronaldo Vieira is in the squad. He came from an injury. This week he has had the whole week and he is in the squad for the game tomorrow.”

Leeds, who are sixth, take on Bristol City in fourth, in a game that’s taken on extra resonance for Christiansen’s men after their recent poor run of form.

They’ve now lost four from the last five league games – an alarming run that’s seen them drop from the top of the league down to sixth, where they’re clinging on to a play-off place.

Leeds fans have been calling for the return of 19-year-old Vieira, who is yet to start a game in the Championship this season.

OPINION

It was very telling that Christiansen made a point of saying that Ronaldo Vieira was fit and ready to play for Leeds. Fans have been calling for him to return and if he does play it could signify a switch to a 4-3-3 after Christiansen’s preferred 4-2-3-1 has come under criticism. If Vieira does come back in and Leeds get a result it would be a huge boost for the youngster as he tried to emulate his run of form from last season.
