Rangers fans took to Twitter to slam Carlos Pena after his display in their 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox on Saturday.

The Mexico international was given the nod to start the Old Firm clash ahead of veteran striker Kenny Miller.

But Pena, 27, struggled to make an impact and was substituted after 53 minutes in favour of Miller.

It made little difference to the outcome of the match as Celtic completely dominated the second half, and were good value for their goals scored in this period by Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths.

The victory took Celtic eight points clear at the Scottish Premiership summit and appears to have realistically already left Pedro Caixinha’s side playing for the runners-up spot.

Rangers fans were dismayed by the performance of big-money signing Pena, with the principal criticisms including his lack of energy and commitment.
