Everton are set to hold talks with Paris Saint-Germain in the new few days regarding the availability of forward Edinson Cavani, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian news outlet claim that the Toffees plan for talks with the French giants over the feasibility of signing the 30-year-old.

It is understood that Everton are serious about their pursuit of the centre-forward and are determined for a new attacker after missing out on Diego Costa in the summer.

Cavani is recognised for being a powerhouse striker that is physically strong and is also deadly in front of goal.

However, he is currently involved in an argument with teammate Neymar over penalty duties at PSG.

Good move for Everton?

This would surely be Everton’s greatest ever signing if they managed to pull off a deal for one of the world’s most clinical striker and would make Romelu Lukaku seem like a distant memory.

Cavani is at the peak of his powers at PSG and has already netted a brilliant nine goals in eight appearances this season across all competitions.

The Uruguay international is a proven goalscorer and would be a phenomenal capture if he moved to Goodison Park.

He is yet to grace the Premier League, but has scored goals in the French and Italian top flights.

Cavani scored 105 goals in just 138 games for Napoli, while his current PSG record is 139 goals in 206 appearances.

Likely to happen?

Everton are set to hold initial talks with PSG about Cavani, but it would be an unbelievable shock if anything came from this.

The 30-year-old is competing at the highest level right now and is one of the best goalscorer in world football.

It seems almost impossible that he would want to join Everton, who to their credit are trying to grow and are willing to spend in the transfer market.

However, Cavani is surely out of their reach as he wouldn’t be prepared to trade Champions League football for the Europa League at any cost.
