Tottenham could be willing to sell Dele Alli in the summer of 2019, according to The Times.

The newspaper claim that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will not allow Alli, 21, to quit the club until they have spent “at least one season in their new stadium”.

The Times report that Alli’s future will come under the microscope at that point even though he is in line to be handed a new contract this season to replace the current deal, which expires in five years.

There is a scramble for the services of the England international not only from the world’s elite clubs but also the most powerful agents who can grease the wheels of such deals.

The Times claim that Alli has severed his ties with English adviser Rob Segal last month, having been with his Impact Sports Management team since he was aged 15 and making his way at Milton Keynes Dons.

Super agents led by Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola are now jostling to win over Alli as prepares to appoint new advisers to manage the next phase of his career.

Alli’s decision to part company with Segal is likely to have huge repercussions for his future at Tottenham, even though he has a contract that runs until 2022.

Good move for Tottenham?

There is currently no conceivable angle from which selling Alli would be a good move for Spurs, even if it were to generate a £100million-plus fee. The England international has emerged as one of the outstanding players in the Premier League after joining Spurs permanently in the summer of 2015. In 100 matches for the north Londoners, Alli has scored 34 goals and supplied 24 assists, stand-out statistics for an attacking midfielder who does not turn 22 until next April. The scary thing is he is a long way off his peak. Curb that hair-trigger temper and the world is the oyster for this brilliant midfielder.

Likely to happen?

Joining up with either of Mendes or Raiola would increase the likelihood that Alli’s ultimate goal is a transfer from Tottenham to Real Madrid or Barcelona, where the super agent pair have impeccable connections and are well placed to facilitate a move. Alli is unlikely to leave Spurs next summer, but the following year is a different matter, entirely.
