Chris Sutton has predicted Newcastle United to suffer a defeat when they host Liverpool on Sunday.

The Magpies welcome the Merseyside club to St James’ Park for a Premier League clash and will be hoping to continue their decent start to the campaign.

Rafael Benitez’ side have won three of their opening six league games, but did suffer a 1-0 loss to Brighton in their last outing.

The North East club will recognise the importance of their home form in their bid to avoid relegation and host a Liverpool side that have hopes of competing at the top end of the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s team have won their last two consecutive matches, which included a Champions League victor over Spartak Moscow on Tuesday.

BT pundit Sutton has tipped Newcastle to lose by a 3-0 scoreline at the weekend to Liverpool, as cited by BT Sport Score’s official Twitter account.

OPINION

Newcastle will start as underdogs for the clash against Liverpool, but have the team to cause an upset against a Liverpool side that are poor defensively. Jonjo Shelvey must return to the starting XI to help retain the ball in the middle of the park, while the likes of Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic deserve the chance to start ahead of Joselu. Liverpool are excellent going forward and Klopp has got them playing some irresistible footbal, with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane a big threat. However, Newcastle should be able to punish the Reds back-line as they have several vulnerabilities.
