BBC pundit and commentator Rob Maclean has raved about the performance of Scott Brown in Saturday’s Old Firm clash.

He also took a dig at the Rangers manager, saying, “Credit to Pedro Caixinha. He got closer to Scott Brown than most of his players when the Rangers manager squared up to the Celtic skipper as the half-time whistle blew at Ibrox on Saturday.”

Maclean went on to say that Brown delivered “an Old Firm masterclass” as Celtic stretched their unbeaten run to 57 games.

“Most football fans, if they’re being honest with themselves, would want a Scott Brown in their team.”

OPINION

Caixinha was enraged by what he saw as an elbow from Scott Brown on Alfredo Morelos. He confronted Scott Brown at half time and told him that wouldn’t have happened if he’d have been on the pitch. It’s possibly not the wisest thing that Caixinha has done but things can get heated in the Old Firm derby clashes. However, Celtic did all the talking on the pitch – much to the frustration of Rangers fans. Scott Brown was immense in the game and proved again how pivotal he is to Celtic’s success. Rangers couldn’t hold a torch to him and the result was yet another loss for Rangers – and realistically the end of their title campaign this season.
