Harry Winks was handed his second Tottenham start of the season in their 3-0 Champions League win against Apoel Nicosia – and fans took to Twitter to rave about his display.
The Spurs academy graduate was selected in central midfield alongside Eric Dier as a depleted side rode their luck to secure a second consecutive triumph in the competition.
Winks, 21, took advantage of the injuries to Mousa Dembele and Victor Wanyama to show why he should be given more game time by manager Mauricio Pochettino.
He delivered an assured performance as he demonstrated that he has fully recovered from the ankle injury that he suffered at the end of last season.
A Harry Kane hat-trick stole the headlines but supporters of the Londoners were in no doubt about the effectiveness of fringe man Winks in what was his first start of the campaign in either the Premier League or the Champions League.

Spurs winning away in Champions League with an Europa League XI. Kane was unplayable. Winks looked like Dembele’s little brother. #COYS
