Ally McCoist has heaped praise on Tottenham striker Harry Kane but has added that he doesn’t think that Real Madrid or Barcelona would want to sign him.
He said that Kane is an out-and-out centre-forward and Barcelona and Madrid like to “play down the channels”.
McCoist was talking on the BBC after Kane had banged in a hat-trick in the 3-0 win against Apoel Nicosia in the Champions League.
He’s now scored five in two Champions League games, and four in the Premier League for a total of nine in eight games.
That includes a dry August when he failed to find the back of the net, but he’s been making up for it since.
“Harry Kane is absolutely remarkable,” McCoist said.
“The past two or three years he has been phenomenal.
“Sergio Aguero is a terrific striker, Alvaro Morata is on fire, Romelu Lukaku has power and strength – but at this moment in time I would go with Harry Kane over them all.
“He is good enough to play with Real Madrid and Barcelona, but I’m not sure he looks like their type of centre-forward.
“Barcelona don’t really play with an out-and-out centre-forward, they like to play down the channels and Real Madrid are similar.
“Kane is like an old-fashioned centre-forward and is a wonderful talent.”

Tottenham fans won’t mind this at all – in fact it will probably come as music to their ears. McCoist says that Kane is good enough to play for the elite European clubs but that they wouldn’t want him as they don’t tend to play with an old-fashioned centre-forward. With the form that Kane has been showing recently, there aren’t many clubs that could afford Kane. Ruling two of the biggest out of moving for him will be a dream to Tottenham fans.
