Paul Merson has predicted Tottenham to record a convincing victory when they travel to Huddersfield in the Premier League.

Spurs travel to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday for the league encounter and will be hoping to make it four consecutive wins across all competitions.

The North London club did face Apoel Nicosia on Tuesday in the Champions League and a Harry Kane hat-trick secured the win.

Mauricio Pochettino may be tempted to make changes to his side, but is without five senior players.

Erik Lamela (hip) and Danny Rose (knee) remain sidelined with their long-term injuries, while midfield pair Mousa Dembele (ankle) and Victor Wanyama (knee) are also out of contention.

Defender Serge Aurier is the fifth first teamer missing due to suspension and it could leave Pochettino naming a similar line up.

Merson has tipped Spurs to win 3-0 away from home against Huddersfield and continue their recent brilliant form.

“Huddersfield have been tight at the back so far, keeping four clean sheets from their six league games so far, but sooner or later they are going to have to come out and score goals,” Merson wrote in his column for Sky Sports. “I watched them against Burnley last week and I thought they were very comfortable but at some point they are going to have to do a bit more because I don’t think another 30 0-0 draws will get you out of trouble.

“Huddersfield are coming up against a different kettle of fish this weekend but they do work hard and that will shock Spurs, but in the end the visitor’s quality will tell. Harry Kane is absolutely flying at the moment and Huddersfield won’t have come up against anyone like that yet. I don’t see how they will be able to contain him”

OPINION

Spurs may have a few injury problems in their squad, but they will have the option to welcome back both Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to the side. The two attacking midfielders will be in the mood for goals against Huddersfield and have the capability to tear them apart. Kane thrives off their supply line, but showed he can still score tons without them. The North London club look a brilliant side offensively when they are in full flow and unfortunately David Wagner’s side could be on the end of thrashing if there is an early goal.
