Stuart Dallas has delivered a message to his former teammates Charlie Taylor and Chris Wood ahead of the EFL Cup clash with Burnley on Tuesday evening.

Taylor moved on a free transfer to Burnley over the summer, before Chris Wood joined him in a £15million move.

And Dallas has said that any friendship will be put aside for the night and when the whistle goes they’ll be “enemies”.

Stuart Dallas was talking in the pre-match press conference ahead of the EFL Cup clash with Burnley.

He said the Burnley match would be a great opportunity to test themselves against a Premier League side, and to give the manager a reaction after the defeat against Millwall.

“They’ve gone to the Premier League but we need to maybe show them that they made the wrong decision by leaving,” Dallas said.

“Players come and go. It’ll be good to come up against them. It’ll give us extra motivation.”

The 1-0 loss at Millwall was Leeds’ first defeat of the season, after five wins at two draws had lifted them to the top of the table.

OPINION

Chris Wood delivered plenty of goals to the Leeds faithful last season and carried them to the verge of the play-offs. Hopefully he’ll get a good reception from the Leeds fans on Tuesday – the team are arguably in a better state now than when he left. Either way it will add extra frisson to a fixture that both teams will want to win. For Leeds, promotion is the sole focus, but a cup win against Burnley would give them extra confidence and put a buffer between them and the disappointing result against Millwall.
