David Prutton has said that Thomas Christiansen must start Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Samu Saiz and midfielder Ronaldo Vieira against Sheffield Wednesday, following the defeat against Cardiff.

Talking in his column in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Prutton said that Cardiff played better than Leeds in the Tuesday night game, and that Warnock got his tactics right and his men made fewer mistakes.

He also said that Christiansen probably realised that his side was going to lose and saved stars Samu Saiz and Pierre-Michel Lasogga for the match against Sheffield Wednesday.

He went on to say that it’s a good time to play their Yorkshire rivals, and stated that Christiansen must start Lasogga, Saiz and Ronaldo Vieira.

“Christiansen should be looking at Wednesday as a team who are there to be beaten,” Prutton said.

“I’d like to see Christiansen solidify his midfield; not abandon his philosophy or dispense with all flair but perhaps ask whether a third midfielder like the physically-strong Ronaldo Vieira might be a better call than Pablo Hernandez.

“I’d like to see Samuel Saiz back and certainly Pierre-Michel Lasogga up front. It’s too early to call Lasogga indispensable but he looks like a vital cog to me.”

OPINION

Pablo Hernandez has been a mainstay for Leeds this season, appearing in all 10 of Leeds’ Championship games so far. Vieira, on the other hand, has played the League Cup games but has only made cameo appearances in the Championship, for a total of 54 minutes. However, Christiansen does need to get a reaction from his men, and after two defeats in three games, should look at mixing things up. Saiz and Lasogga are almost guaranteed to start, but Vieira would add some ballast to the midfield, in a game that Leeds really need to win.
