Leeds came off the worst in a bruising encounter with Championship rivals Cardiff on Tuesday and fans turned on Liam Cooper after he got sent off in the first half for two yellow cards.
In truth, Cooper could have been given a straight red for his first challenge on Nathaniel Mendez-Laing – a very poor lunge that was lucky to only get a yellow.
Cooper followed that up with a really badly mistimed challenge on the same player and he knew he was off from the moment he made contact.
Leeds were already 2-0 down at that time and it could have been worse before half time when Cardiff had a goal disallowed for offside.
However, they did make it three in the second half, before Kemar Roofe pulled one back for Thomas Christiansen’s side.
It gave them a small lifeline but in all honesty they were never getting back into the game.
And Leeds fans were quick to point to the stupidity of Cooper for ensuring their side had to play the second 45 minutes with just 10 men.
This Is Futbol has rounded up some of the best tweets from disgruntled fans after the 3-1 defeat.
Poor team selection, poor subs, poor decision making from Cooper. Kevin Friend still hates Leeds. We move on. Let's smash the pigs. #LUFC

Cooper will find it hard to get back in the side with Pennington returning and looking assured, only comfort tonight #cardiff v #leeds

Leeds have been great all season but tonight is absolutely shocking. Dreadful decision making and defending from Cooper #lufc

Cooper was right to be sent off. No doubt!! Both needless stupid challenges and not what a Captain is about. Undone this seasons good work

Very poor. 5 changes to starting 11 looked ill-advised. Cooper is a liability. Milwall/Cardiff horsed us out of it. Keeper a worry

It wasn't the fact that Cooper made a stupid tackle that is bugging me, it's that he put zero effort in getting there quicker. #lufc

I don't think Cooper was thinking anything and therein lies his problem.
Absolute stupidity not often seen on a Sunday League pitch.#4thCB https://t.co/BBmTg9fhuv— Peter LUFC (@Peter_LUFC) September 26, 2017
That's the Liam Cooper I remember. Wondered where he'd been hiding.

Everything went wrong. Cooper shocker, & I'm not convinced by Wiedwald at all. That wasn't a game to be fannying about at the back! #lufc
