Leeds United have announced that 21-year-old centre-back Conor Shaughnessy has signed a new four-year contract to keep him at Elland Road until 2021 – and fans are made up with the news.
He becomes the latest Leeds player to commit his future to the club this year, following new deals for Ronaldo Vieira, Gaetano Berardi, Liam Cooper, Eunan O’Kane, Stuart Dallas and Kalvin Phillips.
The news was announced on the official Leeds Twitter account on Thursday morning.

The 21-year-old joined Leeds last September and broke into the senior team this season.
He’s now made six first-team appearances for Thomas Christiansen, playing all three League Cup games and three Championship matches.
He played the full 90 minutes against Millwall last Saturday and 120 minutes in the penalty shootout win over Burnley on Tuesday.
The versatile player can play in defence or in midfield, and Leeds fans think he has a big future at the club, with one saying he’s a “future captain”.
