Thomas Christiansen has confirmed that star striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga will be available for the Championship game against Ipswich.

His girlfriend is currently expecting their child and is back in Germany, with Lassoga set to fly back as soon as there’s any news.

However, Christiansen expects him to be available for the Championship game at Elland Road on Saturday.

Talking in the press conference, he said that there was “no news” on Lasogga’s baby and the player would be available for selection.

The team news was announced on Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Lee Sobot’s Twitter page on Friday lunchtime.

This is great news for Leeds – for now. The baby’s arrival is imminent so it’s likely Lasogga will miss some time at his new club. Manager Thomas Christiansen has said that he will be “human” and give his player some time off, and Leeds will be able to cope with a short absence from their striker. Christiansen has numerous options, with Kemar Roofe scoring a hat-trick in the League Cup against Newport and Jay-Roy Grot and Pawel Cibicki on the sidelines. The Ipswich game is a big one for Leeds as they aim to get their train back on track after their first defeat of the season against Millwall last weekend. Lasogga will hope to sign off from the club with a goal to welcome his new baby into the world.
