Aston Villa suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat away to Cardiff on Saturday, but the club’s supporters did manage to find a small positive from the performance of Josh Onomah.
The 20-year-old midfielder has made a strong start with the Midlands giants following his season-long loan switch from Tottenham.
He was deployed on the left wing by manager Steve Bruce, despite being used in a more central role in the League Cup win over Colchester.
Early pace setters Cardiff continued their strong start to the season, with a brace from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and a Junior Hoilett goal securing the hosts three points.
Meanwhile, Villa have just a single point to their name from the opening two games and will need to vastly improve if they are to achieve their aims of promotion.
The Villa fans were fairly downbeat following the defeat on social media, but feel that Onomah was their standout player against Cardiff.

We look decent when the play goes through Onomah. Not much else about us. #avfc

Onomah is the best player on the pitch, then all of Cardiff players, then Villa. #AVFC

Onomah has already shown what a useful player he could be for Bruce this season and has looked top class in the Championship so far.
The versatile midfielder can play in either a central role or out wide, proving the latter in the defeat to Cardiff.
He played a key role in England Under-20s winning the World Cup this summer and starred in a central role for his nation.
Onomah is renowned for being very strong in possession, but the debate over his best position is still up for grabs as his technical ability and pace make him a threat out wide.
The youngster can only continue impressing during his loan spell and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino will surely be keeping an eye on his progress.
