Aston Villa suffered another Championship defeat on Tuesday night against Reading – and the club’s supporters on Twitter believe that they made the wrong decision in the summer when they sold Nathan Baker.
The 26-year-old completed a move to Bristol City this summer and ended his long association with the club after graduating from their academy.
The centre-back racked up 123 appearances for the Midlands giants and was a regular in the 2016/17 season playing 34 times.
However, manager Steve Bruce decided to sell Baker in the summer and has overseen a reshuffle in defence.
They have used summer signing John Terry alongside James Chester at centre-back this season, but the pair couldn’t prevent a 2-1 away defeat to Reading on Tuesday.
It leaves the team with just one point from their opening three league games and they are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.
Villa fans were furious after the Reading loss and believe selling defender Baker to league rivals Bristol City was a huge mistake.

Def should've kept Nathan Baker and spent Terry money on mid or attack. #AVFC

@Dr_TonyXia Nathan Baker was the better option as I have stated since we sold him. Bad management and I'm starting to think bad ownership

Baker is now looking to establish himself in the Bristol City side and scored a debut goal against Plymouth in the League Cup.
The centre-back made his first league start for the Robins on Tuesday night in a 2-2 away draw to Brentford and is proving he can cut it in the Championship.
He will face a reunion with former side Villa on 25th August as the two teams clash at Ashton Gate.
Villa will be hoping they go into that game in much better form than their current state as they still have aspirations of launching a promotion bid, but have seen early pace setters Cardiff, Wolves and Ipswich all start with 100 per cent records from three games.
