Defender Hugo Diaz has confirmed that he is now a Leeds player on his social media accounts.

The 20-year-old, who has left La Liga side Deportivo this summer, changed the bio on his personal Twitter account to say he’s a “player of LUFC” meaning that he has agreed terms with the Championship club to perhaps join their ever-growing Under-23 squad.

Diaz also changed the header on his personal Instagram account to read that he is now playing for the Whites.

He also changed the display pictures on both of his social media account to show him outside the Leeds academy facility.

Leeds do not normally announce additions to their Under-23 squad, but Alejandro Machuca, Ousama Siddiki, Kun Temenuzkhov, Oriol Rey and Adrian Balboa have all signed for the Championship side this summer, as well as Madger Gomes, who did have his arrival confirmed by the club when he switched from Premier League giants Liverpool.

It’s no doubt been a very busy summer for the Whites, who have undergone changes at all levels of the club this summer in the wake of Andrea Radrazzani taking complete control of the club.

Good move for Leeds?

It remains to be seen how this crop of youngsters turns out for the Whites, but it’s encouraging that most of them have arrived from top-flight Spanish sides with a great history of churning out incredible talent. The signing of Diaz is perhaps the work of director of football Victor Orta, who seems to have a great deal of knowledge when recruiting young players from his native Spain. The future is certainly looking bright for the Whites and Diaz will hopefully make the step up the senior football in the coming years.
