Premier League rivals West Brom have made a club-record £23million bid for Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen, according to a report.

The Daily Mail have claimed via their website on Thursday morning that Spurs have received a massive offer upward of £20million from the Baggies for the 23-year-old Dutchman.

The bid tops the Midlands outfit’s current record spend of £15million on young winger Oliver Burke from RB Leipzig earlier in the summer.

It would also present a £6million profit for Tottenham on a player they signed for £17million last summer, who has not made an impact in England as of yet.

Here, This Is Futbol weighs up whether allowing Janssen to leave for such a price will be a good move for Spurs and if it is likely to happen.

Good move for Tottenham?

If Tottenham can make a £6million profit on Janssen, who has scored just six goals in 39 appearances for the club then they should definitely take it up. Some may feel that it is too early to let the Dutchman depart, but only two of his goals for Spurs have come in the Premier League from 28 matches and it is starting to become clear like so many before him that he has struggled to make the transition from Holland to England. It is also starting to look like it will only be a matter of time before his value plummets and with fees being as crazy as they are at the moment this could potentially be his peak value. Therefore, Tottenham should certainly consider allowing Janssen to leave.

Likely to happen?

Tottenham are currently being heavily linked with a move for Swansea’s Fernando Llorente and it is thought that any deal for Janssen could be dependent on whether they bring in the Spanish veteran. Therefore, in a busy transfer window there is likely to be many twists and turns which could see Janssen either leave or stay at Wembley until January at the very least. Right now however it is looking as though the Dutchman will be unveiled with a West Brom shirt by the end of the day, especially if the £23million bid is correct for a player clearly out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino.
