Three Premier League teams have made a deadline day approach for Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claimed via their live transfer blog on Thursday [01:37pm] that Leicester, Crystal Palace and Watford had all contacted the Hoops with enquries about Simunovic, 23, with just hours left until the summer transfer window slams shut at 11pm.

The report adds that Huddersfield and Brighton are also keen on signing the crucial Celtic first-team player with the Scottish champions valuing their star at £9million.

Good move for Celtic?

No way. Brendan Rodgers must keep hold of his best players and Simunovic is one of them. The Croatian-born enforcer is currently the only centre-back near match fitness in Rodgers’ squad with Dedyrck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko injured and Rivaldo Coetzee’s move to Parkhead falling through after a failed medical. If a bid comes in, Celtic have to turn it down.

Likely to happen?

Leicester are one of the teams that are constantly being linked to signing a centre-back. It has been widely reported that they have had bids turned down for West Brom’s Jonny Evans and they could step up their pursuit of a cheaper Simunovic if they don’t get their way. However Celtic will not be able to replace him well at this late stage in the window so there’s every chance that the defender will remain a Bhoy after Thursday.
