Scottish Premiership rivals Hibernian have resumed talks for Celtic midfielder Liam Henderson in a last-ditch attempt to bring him in before 11.00pm, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun have claimed via their website on Thursday afternoon that Neil Lennon’s side are “working” on a deadline day swoop for the 21-year-old with just over five hours left of the summer window.

The Sun report claims that Henderson himself is available after finding first team opportunities limited in the Hoops’ impressive midfield and that Brendan Rodgers is open to a loan deal after English Championship club Preston failed to agree terms with the Glasgow giants over a permanent deal.

Henderson has also previously have a loan spell at Hibs in the 2015-16 campaign, where he played in 48 matches in total, returning six goals and 16 assists and he is said to be a fan favourite for the Edinburgh-based club.

The young midfielder has also played 36 times in total for Celtic, but he has also gone into the final year of his contract for the Glasgow giants and hasn’t appeared for Rodgers’ side this season.

Good move for Celtic?

Possibly. It is clear that Henderson’s time at Parkhead is running out as at his age he should be a lot further ahead in his development and pushing a lot harder for a first team place. However, if he moves on loan to Hibernian then Celtic will miss out on a fee, as the player will leave on a free next summer once his contract ends. Therefore, this doesn’t so much look a good deal for the club, but certainly suits the player, as he looks to progress his professional career and Celtic should not be faulted for that.

Likely to happen?

As mentioned, Henderson’s time at Celtic looks to be reaching it’s end and if he hasn’t departed Glasgow by 11.00pm then it would be an opportunity missed by the player. Therefore, it seems like all parties will be working towards getting a deal sorted for the young midfielder before the deadline in just over five hours time and if Henderson is still at Celtic beyond the deadline then it will certainly be a surprise.
