Newcastle United must do everything within their power to secure the signature of West Ham United midfielder Robert Snodgrass this summer.

The Evening Standard claims that the 29-year-old could be on his way out of the London Stadium following the imminent arrival of Portugal international William Carvalho.

The report claims that the Hammers are looking to offload a number of players and Snodgrass’ tay at the club might be coming to an end just six months after his £11million arrival.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez should seriously consider making a move for the Scotland international before the transfer window closes as he would be able to add an attacking threat to the side.

Unlike the majority of Newcastle’s summer signings, Snodgrass has bags of experience playing in the Premier League, featuring in over 100 matches in the division.

The midfielder has also proved that he can be the main man to provide the goals for a newly-promoted team as he produced some outstanding performances for Hull City last season.

Snodgrass notched up seven goals in the league from midfield for Hull during the previous campaign, finishing as the club’s top goalscorer despite leaving in the January transfer window.

The Scot also produced six assists in the Premier League and his introduction to the Newcastle team would certainly help the likes of Dwight Gayle and Ayoze Perez get on the scoresheet.

In the opening match of the new season this past weekend, Newcastle struggled to pose a serious attacking threat against Tottenham and lacked a player of Snodgrass’ ability to unlock the defence and provide a piece of magic.

The Magpies are going to need goals from all over the pitch in order to secure survival in the top-flight and the West Ham man would certainly be the right player to bring in and help in this department.

Although the midfielder struggled to find his feet at West Ham, there is still no doubting his ability and he might rise to the challenge in front of the passionate supporters at St James’ Park this season.

With the Hammers reportedly willing to let him leave the club, Newcastle might be able to negotiate a reasonable deal despite the player having three years remaining on his contract.

Snodgrass is an absolute bargain for Newcastle and he could potentially turn out to be their best acquisition this summer.
