Glenn Hoddle believes West Ham must win their next game against Huddersfield before fans begin to question their own side.

The Hammers suffered a dismal 3-0 loss to Newcastle on Saturday afternoon, as they struggled to have any kind of foothold in the game against Rafa Benitez’s men at St. James’ Park.

Hoddle told BT Sport Score that the Hammers were unorganised in defence and struggled in their passing against the Toon, before stating that West Ham fans will start to question the direction of the club if they fail to earn three points against Huddersfield next time out.

“You look at West Ham, and you always think they’re a good footballing side,” Hoddle said, as quoted by BT Sport Score’s official Twitter account.

“Today they can’t even pass the ball, defensively they’re all over the place. They haven’t put more than four passes together in the whole game.

“I really feel something has to happen there. Slaven (Bilic) needs that home game against Huddersfield but if they don’t get a result against them, West Ham fans will be thinking ‘Where are we going?'”.

Saturday’s defeat is now the Hammers’ third Premier League loss in a row, which has also seen them lose 4-0 to Manchester United and 3-2 to Southampton, conceding 10 goals in just three matches.

Pressure is beginning to mount on manager Bilic, who has spent plenty of money in the transfer market to lure high-profile names Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez to the London Stadium.

OPINION

The Hammers must secure all three points at home to David Wagner’s high-flying Huddersfield after the international break if they are to achieve anything this season, as their attempts of a top-six Premier League finish look all but over before the end of August. The east London outfit are already sinking without a trace and if Huddersfield manage to continue their fine start with three points against the Hammers on September 11, then manager Bilic could find himself without a job just four matches into the Premier League season. Things must change on the pitch, before they start changing off of it.
