Vincent Janssen is set to join Swansea on loan as part of the deal that takes Fernando Llorente to Tottenham, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper’s deadline-day blog (12.44pm) claims that Janssen is in line to be a direct swap for Spurs-bound Llorente.

The Telegraph report that Llorente is undergoing a medical at Tottenham’s training ground after they agreed a £15million deal with Swansea, and Janssen is now in line to go the other way even though the Welsh club have agreed a fee for Wilfried Bony.

Good move for Tottenham?

Yes. Llorente is an upgrade of Janssen, who has struggled to make an impact since he joined for £18million from AZ Alkmaar last summer. The Holland international topped the scoring charts in the Eredivisie in 2015-16, but his lack of mobility proved to be a severe hindrance in the Premier League. Even when Harry Kane was sidelined with two different ankle injuries last season, Mauricio Pochettino often preferred Son Heung-Min as his attack spearhead. This lack of faith in Janssen was telling, although the 23-year-old has time on his side and can still develop into a solid Premier League striker if given the opportunities.

Likely to happen?

If the reliable John Percy says Janssen is close to joining Swansea, then we should take it very seriously. Percy is the Telegraph’s transfer expert and ace story-getter with excellent agent contacts. With it being widely reported that Llorente to Tottenham is all but done, it makes sense that the Welsh club would want a player from the London club as well as a sizeable transfer fee. Janssen is expendable, and, although player swaps are rare, this deal looks likely to happen.
