New Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen should sign Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback before the transfer window closes.

The Daily Mail reported that the Tyneside club are looking to offload the 27-year-old following a training ground bust up which has led to Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez informing him to train on his own away from the first-team.

The newspaper claimed that the Magpies boss has decided that Colback will not be involved in the opening match of the Premier League campaign against Tottenham on Sunday.

The report claimed that the Tyneside club have already offered the midfielder to a number of teams but many are not willing to match his weekly wages worth £40,000.

Colback currently has two years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park.

Although the Yorkshire club have signed a total of eleven players in the transfer window, Colback could still contribute and add something to the current squad.

The Englishman already has experience of achieving promotion from the Championship as he played a key role in helping the Magpies bounce straight back to the Premier League last season.

The midfielder featured in 34 matches in all competitions and contributed with two goals in the process.

Leeds have already managed to secure the signature of former Newcastle midfielder Vurnon Anita this summer and signing Colback could also give them a further option as they look to achieve a place back in the English top-flight for the first time since the 2003-04 season.

Colback has great experience playing at the top level, making more than 175 appearances in the Premier League therefore he should not be phased moving to such a big club such as Leeds.

It is fairly plausible that Leeds might also find it difficult to match the midfielder’s £40,000 weekly wage but they should at least hold talks with Newcastle regarding the possibility of a summer deal.

With the Magpies reportedly looking to sell the player, negotiations should not be too tough between the two clubs and Leeds could potentially complete an astute signing before the window shuts at the end of the month.
