Hull City have had a bid of £10million reportedly rejected for Cardiff City striker Kenneth Zohore this summer and Newcastle should look to swoop in and secure the target man’s signature.

Sky Sports Transfer Centre claimed on Wednesday evening (4.36pm) that Championship side Hull had tabled an eight-figure offer for the 23-year-old forward, but it has since been turned down by Neil Warnock’s side.

Zohore was in impressive form last season for the Welsh outfit, scoring 12 goals in 30 Championship outings as he showcased his eye for goal in the second tier of English football.

Newcastle are in desperate need of signing a new striker after Daryl Murphy joined Championship side Nottingham Forest on a permanent basis, while Adam Armstrong joined Bolton on a season-long loan deal.

The Evening Chronicle claim Aleksander Mitrovic can leave the club if his value of £16million is met, with Lyon and Turkish giants Besiktas and Fenerbahce keen on landing the 22-year-old Serbia international.

That would leave the Toon with just two strikers in Dwight Gayle and new signing Joselu from Stoke City, with manager Rafa Benitez desperately needing new signings in order to bolster his side’s fight against relegation.

Although unproven in the Premier League, Zohore showed all the traits necessary to shine in the top flight of English football.

Boasting pace and an unwavering eye for goal, Cardiff’s number 10 would give the Toon another type of forward that would provide Benitez with an added attacking dimension in the final third.

The 20-time Denmark Under-21 international is also able to create a goal, showing the kind of ability to unlock a Championship defence last season by providing five assists for the Bluebirds during the 2016-17 campaign.

However, it remains to be seen if the Toon would be able to secure a deal to sign the striker, with owner Mike Ashley keeping a tight stronghold on the purse strings at St. James’ Park.

With two years remaining on the striker’s current contract, the ball is in Cardiff’s court over a potential transfer but Ashley should look to stump up the necessary fee that would provide Newcastle with the missing attacking ingredient to avoid relegation back to the Championship.
