Thomas Christiansen will have plenty of selection headaches ahead of Leeds’ Championship clash against Preston on Saturday after his side smashed Port Vale 4-1 on Wednesday night.

The Yorkshire giants strolled into the second round of the Carabao Cup with a comprehensive victory over Vale, that saw a number of players given debuts.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Mateusz Klich, Samu Saiz and Caleb Ekuban all made their debuts for the club in a side that was made up of nine changes from Sunday’s 3-2 win over Bolton.

Spaniard Saiz stole the show as he put on a fantastic performance in his first appearance for the club, scoring a superb hat-trick that endeared himself to the Elland Road faithful.

Despite finishing the game with a defence made of three centre midfielders in Gomes, Vurnon Anita and Conor Shaughnessy, Leeds were comfortable throughout even though former Whites ace Michael Tonge scored for Vale.

This Is FutbolĀ examines the five winners and losers of the Leeds side from Wednesday night, including a teenage ace that will now be in Christiansen’s thinking, while an elder statesman of the game will be considering his future:
