Robert Green looks likely to make his move to Premier League new boys Huddersfield, according to a reliable journalist.

The news was reported by Phil Hay, who works for the Yorkshire Evening Post on Friday evening.

Hay also claimed that Leeds were lining up former Leeds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan as his replacement.

The 33-year-old Lonergan has been at Wolves for a year and has made 15 appearances.

He played for Leeds for the entire 2011/12 season and made a total of 38 appearances and could now be on his way for an unexpected return.

It means Green will draw the curtain on his Leeds career after one year, after joining from QPR on a free transfer.

Under Garry Monk he played every game of the 2016/17 Championship season for Leeds.

This Is Futbol looks at whether this is a good move for Leeds and how likely the move is to go through.

A good move for Leeds?

Most fans would say no. Robert Green was a rock last season and helped keep Leeds on course for a shot at the Premier League. He made 46 appearances in the Championship alone, keeping 15 clean sheets. The only thing going against him is his age – at 37 he’s coming towards the end of his career. Felix Wiedwald is obviously Thomas Christiansen’s number one and is doing a good job, and Green obviously doesn’t want to warm the bench at Elland Road.

Likely to happen?

Phil Hay is an exceptionally accurate source of information for Leeds transfer stories so this one is highly likely to go through. It’s a shame for Leeds but Green will have the chance to go and take one last shot at the Premier League – probably from the bench. He’ll go with the blessing of all Leeds fans.
