Liverpool midfielder Allan Rodrigues de Souza is going to be sent out on loan to Portugal, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who joined Liverpool from Inter in 2015 for a fee of around £650k, has not got a work permit yet and it is hoped that a year with a Primeira Liga club would help Liverpool get the necessary paperwork.

The club has not been named yet but it is reported that he would get regular game time.

Allan has been out on several loan spells since he joined Liverpool, to Finnish club SJK Seinäjoki, Sint-Truiden in Belgium and most recently Hertha Berlin.

The Brazil Under-20 international made 16 appearances for Hertha.

Good move for Liverpool?

This is a move that suits all parties. Allan is a real promise for the future and needs to keep getting game-time until his situation in the UK is sorted out.

Playing for a Portuguese team makes a lot of sense as the language barrier won’t be an issue, and the experience will be invaluable.

Likely to happen?

It seems nailed on to happen.

Allan can’t stay at Liverpool this season as he hasn’t got a work permit after rules were tightened in 2015.

He’s still seen as a prospect and Liverpool are said to be on the brink of announcing a deal. This one will happen.
