Leeds are interested in signing Burton midfielder Jackson Irvine and he would seriously help improve the club’s midfield options.

Football website HITC claim that the Whites are “lining up a move” for the 24-year-old and that he is one of the most sought after players in the Football League.

The Australia international would be the perfect addition to the side at Elland Road and Leeds should waste no time by submitting a bid to beat off competition.

Thomas Christiansen’s side are in desperate need of a goalscoring midfielder and that is exactly what they would be capturing in the Burton ace.

The Yorkshire giants currently have some solid central midfield options in the shape of Ronaldo Vieira, Ronaldo Vieira, Eunan O’Kane, Liam Bridcutt and Kalvin Phillips.

However, none of them are genuine goal threats and Leeds were too reliant on Chris Wood last season to score.

Ivrine proved in a Burton side that narrowly avoided relegation that he can chip in with goals in the Championship.

He is renowned for being a defensive midfielder and being very strong in possession, but he also made his mark in front of goal.

The Australian made 44 appearances across all competitions last season and scored a superb 10 goals in return.

He previously showed his class in Scotland with Ross County and has made the seamless transition to English football in the past 12 months.

A goalscoring midfielder could be just the missing ingredient that Leeds are looking for as they strive for promotion and will be capturing a quality player if they sign Irvine.
