Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi is set for a medical with La Liga side Sevilla after the two cubs agreed to the transfer, it was confirmed on Friday.

The official Sevilla and Aston Villa Twitter accounts announced that a fee had been agreed between both clubs for the 23-year-old left back and that he was now “subject to medical testing,” while the Villans also wished him well for the future.

Amavi completed a move to Aston Villa in the summer of 2014 or a fee of £9million from Nice.

He impressed many in his opening appearances for the club and looked a rare bright light in the team before suffering an ACL tear in his knee while on international duty in November, bringing an early end to his debut campaign.

Since then he has featured 34 times in the Championship and reports in December even said that the Midlands giants had turned down a mega £25million bid from China.

However, since then Aston Villa have brought in Neil Taylor, who has taken over the left-back role, while Frenchman Amavi would have been lured by thought of playing in La Liga and away from England’s second tier.
