West Ham take on Liverpool for Jimenez

West Ham are taking on Premier League rivals Liverpool for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez, according to the Mirror.

The news outlet details that the 26-year-old Mexico international is rated as highly as £19million and that his club are willing to listen to offers for him.

It is said that the east London team have a long-term interest in Jimenez, who managed a return of 11 goals in 32 matches in all competitions for Benfica last season.

He has also been away in Russia with Mexico for the Confederations Cup this summer, where he has scored one goal in four outings.

Jimenez was heavily linked with a move to West Ham two years a go before his switch to Benfica from Atletico Madrid, but it was reported that he had missed a medical in east London due to oversleeping.

The experienced striker ended up costing the Portuguese giants as much as £7.9million, but he could now be set for a move to England with both the Hammers and Liverpool interested.

Slaven Bilic’s side have been linked with a number of strikers this summer with usual winger Michail Antonio finishing as the club’s top scorer in all competitions last season with just nine goals.
