West Ham are confident of sealing the transfer of Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier Hernandez, according to reliable journalist Ian Abrahams.

TalkSPORT reporter and and commentator Abrahams, who has a reputation for breaking transfer stories claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that sources had told him the Hammers are confident of signing the 29-year-old.

The claim from Abrahams follows a report from the Sun stating that the east London club had offered the former Manchester United man a deal worth a staggering £145,000-a-week with Slaven Bilic’s side also said to be willing to meet his £13million release clause.

Hernandez is best known for England for his time at Old Trafford between 2010 and 2015, which saw him return 59 goals in 158 encounters.

He helped the Red Devils to two Premier League titles during his five-year stint in Manchester and even earned a loan move to Euro giants Real Madrid during that time.

The goal poacher boasts a similarly impressive scoring record at international level, where he has bagged 48 times in 96 caps.

Now, he could be set for a move to West Ham, who have been linked to a number of strikers already this summer with Bilic keen to add firepower to his side which finished with winger Michail Antonio as their top scorer in the last campaign.
