West Ham have drafted a stunning contract in an attempt to lure Javier Hernandez to the London Stadium this summer, according to the Sun.

The tabloid reports that the Irons are willing to meet the £13million release clause in the striker’s contract at Bayer Leverkusen, then offer him a chance to return to the Premier League on a deal worth a staggering £145,000-a-week.

It is understood that the £7.5million-a-year contract would see Hernandez become the highest earner in the West Ham squad and solve the problem area of Slaven Bilic’s strike force.

Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho spent most of last season sat on the sidelines through injury as the Hammers struggled to find the net and eventually succumbed to a bottom-half finish in the Premier League.

Hernandez is already a proven goal scorer in the English top-flight from his previous spell with Manchester United, as he found the net on 37 occasions in 103 appearances for the Red Devils, with most of his game time coming from the bench.

The 96-times Mexico international has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s top strikers having been offered a chance of leading the attacker at Leverkusen.

The two-times Premier League winner scored 13 goals in all competitions for the German giants last season, with 11 goals in 20 league starts.

He suffered his fair share of injuries though, having troubles with both a fractured hand and a pulled hamstring – but spent nowhere near as long out as Carroll and Sakho.
