Negotiations between Tottenham and Manchester City over the transfer of star right-back Kyle Walker are set to “drag on for another week,” according to the Independent.

The report details that the two Premier League giants have been talking since the end of the last season about a move for the 27-year-old and that manager Pep Guardiola had hoped to get him signed early.

However, Spurs are also said to be demanding close to £50million for the 27-time capped England international and cash-rich Manchester City have not yet been able to agree a fee.

It is also claimed tough negotiator Daniel Levy is happy to wait until City meet his asking price with Tottenham not needing to sell due to him having four years remaining on his contract.

Walker himself is reported to be keen on a move to Guardiola’s team following a fall out with manager Mauricio Pochettino in the second half of the last campaign over his training and fitness, which ultimately saw him lose his place in the first team to Kieran Trippier.

But, Tottenham will not let the player, who has played in 229 matches for the club following a £9million move from Sheffield United in 2007 leave on anything but their own terms.
