Chinese side Tianjin Quanjian have agreed a deal that could potentially reach up to £30million for Cologne striker Anthony Modeste, according to Sky Sports.

The popular broadcasters have detailed on their live transfer blog (Wednesday 7.21pm) that the cash-rich club have reached an agreement which will see the 29-year-old initially join on loan for a cost of £5.3million with an option to buy thought to be as much as £25.6million.

The agreement does however come after Premier League side West Ham are said to have had a £20million offer rejected for the former France Under-21 international at the end of June.

The Hammers have been linked with a number of strikers this summer as they look to add more firepower to their side and it is clear that they are looking to spend big money with the reported Modeste bid alongside Sky journalist Kaveh Solhekol also claiming on Wednesday that Stoke had rejected a second bid worth £20million for star Marko Arnautovic.

Modeste himself would have certainly brought some much needed goals to Slaven Bilic’s side after he bagged a stunning 27 goals in 37 matches in all competitions last season with 25 of them coming in the Bundesliga.

However, it looks like West Ham have almost certainly lost out to Tianjin Quanjian for his signature.
