Aston Villa will let right-back Alan Hutton leave the club for a fee this summer with league rivals Sheffield Wednesday eyeing a move, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sun transfer correspondent has reported via his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that the Owls want the 32-year-old for their first team with Villa ready to let him depart.

Hutton’s contract at Villa Park was set to expire this summer, but in March manager Steve Bruce revealed that he had triggered an extension.

It would now seem that the club are still willing to let him leave to prevent him from departing for free next year.

Additionally, the Mirror reported in 2014 that Hutton is earning £40,000-a-week at Aston Villa and the club may now be looking to free up wages after bringing in John Terry on Monday.

Hutton has been a part of the Midlands giants’ team for six years after moving from Tottenham in August 2011.

He has gone on to play 135 times in total for the club, scoring once and last season he featured 36 times in all competitions for the club, providing one assist.

Aston Villa have also brought in full-backs James Bree and Ritchie De Laet in the past year and they may now view Hutton as expendable.
