Newcastle are one of several Premier League and La Liga sides eyeing Alaves centre-back Zouhair Feddal, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet have detailed on their website on Saturday that Premier League side Southampton are weighing up a move for the 27-year-old, who has a buy-out clause of just £2.6million.

However, the Saints could face competition for the Morroco international and it is also said that Feddal is attracting interest from each of Valencia and Real Betis.

Meanwhile, both Newcastle and Brighton are also named in the report and it is said that the defender’s ability to read the game and intercept danger has draw the attention of boss Rafa Benitez.

The Spanish manager knows his homeland well and has already brought in French defender Florian Lejeune from Eibar this summer, while last year he brought in veteran full-back Jesus Gamez from Atletico Madrid.

He could now be casting his eye over Feddal, who played in 27 La Liga matches last season for a side who finished in ninth place.

Additionally, his buy-out fee is more in Newcastle’s price range following their promotion to the Premier League and the Magpies may push forward with their interest if Southampton are considering a move themselves.
