Goalkeeper Logan Bailly has signed for Belgian club Royal Excel Mouscron after Celtic agreed to the terms of his departure, it has been confirmed.

The Hoops have remained silent on the 31-year-old goalkeeper’s departure, but the official Twitter account of Mouscron announced his signing on Sunday after also revealing they had reached a verbal agreement with him.

“The Royal Excel Mouscron has a verbal agreement with Logan Bailly contract that covers a period of two years will be signed this weekend,” reported the club on Twitter on Friday.

Before then confirming he had joined on a two-year deal on Sunday: “Official: Logan Bailly sign for two seasons at Excel. Welcome to him.”

Bailly had joined Celtic in the summer of 2015 from Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven.

He agreed a three-year contract at the time, meaning he still had a year remaining on his contract at the Hoops, but with just five appearances for the club with none coming under Brendan Rodgers in the most recent campaign, he has now left.

Bailly has previously played for a number of big clubs such as Celtic, Borussia Monchengladbach and Genk, while he has also been capped eight times by the senior Belgium national team and he will now be looking to kick start his career back up in his home country.

Meanwhile, Celtic will aim to replicate last season’s treble winning success in the next campaign and they have experienced duo Craig Gordon and Dorus de Vries as options between the sticks.
